Most industry professionals know that ANSI/SPRI/FM 4435/ES-1 testing is extremely important for a roof edge. In fact, it is so important that the International Building Code requires that ANSI/SPRI/FM 4435/ES-1 tested edge metal must be installed on buildings.

What makes ANSI/SPRI such an important issue? Roof edges that are not tested or poorly installed could prove extremely costly to building owners and contractors. When you consider that about 60% of litigation claims on buildings originate from the roof and of those 60% are attributed to the roof edge – the small 1% roof edge cost or a project accounts for 36% of litigation risk. The use of ES-1 performance tested roof edge products for edge securement provides protection for the building owner, the design community, as well as the installer by minimizing the risk of litigation.

In addition to reduced litigation risk, a tested roof edge provides a consistent look that creates an objective approach to installing the metal. Metal-Era’s roof edge is manufactured at their facility in Waukesha, WI and orders of metal are guaranteed to have the same consistent look across the board. In addition, Metal-Era’s roof edge dictates the type and location of each fastener to guarantee it will properly adhere to the roof long-term.

Metal-Era’s products are ANSI/SPRI/FM 4435/ES-1 tested and can be included in a Carlisle Edge to Edge System Warranty. Download the ratings guide to learn more about the products that are ANSI/SPRI ES-1 tested.
